America's Next Top Model host, Tyra Banks formally announced in her social media accounts that the famous modelling competition is drawing to a close until December 4 on its 22nd cycle.

On Wednesday, the supermodel announced on Instagram via Today that the competition's current season is the last to be seen of the franchise.

"Yeah it's time. It really is. Wow, I am SO proud of what Top Model has done. #ANTM brought the intimidating modeling world to the masses. We were the first reality show based in the fashion world. I never thought my little idea would have people everywhere thinking differently about how they take photos. And I never thought we'd do 22 cycles," a part of her lengthy message on Instagram goes.

The supermodel-coach has always been keen in developing confidence among aspiring models and taught them to love their flaws.

"So I hope you continue to love your freckles, your moles, your big forehead, your big eyes, your small eyes, your pointy chin, your tiny boobs, your full chest, your ivory or ebony skin (or every color in between) - the stuff about you that makes you, well... you."

Tyra also confirmed the same news on Twitter.

"TYRA MAIL! Thinking #ANTM22 should be our last cycle. I truly believe it's time. May your pics be forever fierce. Keep on Smizing!" she wrote as mentioned in E! Online.

Banks statement was also supported by Mark Pedowitz, President of the CW (the network who aired the modelling competition) who commends the show for being 'not just a ratings hit, but a global pop culture phenomenon.'

"I want to thank Tyra and Ken for all their years of success in establishing a show that was not just popular in the U.S., but all across the world."

America's Next Top Model was first aired in UPN in 2003 and had its debut at CW in September 2006 until this year.

It has helped launched the career of Analeigh Tipton in acting, and model and reality TV personality, Adrienne Curry and other models who have established a name on and off the screen, International Business Times said.

ANTM has also tapped the expertise of fashion experts such as Nigel Barker, Janice Dickinson, and Twiggy in coaching amateur models to be the best in their careers.
