The debut of an 88 second trailer of the "Star Wars: The Force Awaken," the seventh entry into the blockbuster franchise, online and in about 30 US theatres has left fans in a frenzy

The trailer has already been watched 3 million times on YouTube. It shows disjointed collages of "Star Wars" images like TIE Fighters, X-Wings, droids and the Millennium Falcon.

The short peep into the future Star Wars gives a glimpse of the world 30 years after the Return of the Jedi. We get to see a dazed storm trooper John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac and in the Dark Side a mysterious caped man carrying a three-pronged light saber.

A sighting of Han Solo's Millennium Falcon seems to have done the trick for many.

The score is by John Williams  and Andy Serkis gives the voiceover.

The fan world has weighed in positively with their comments. Here is what the Associated Press has from the twitter handles of some Hollywood directors and actors

"That 'Star Wars' trailer gave me the tingles," director Edgar Wright said on Twitter.

"Language and emojis fail to express what's in my heart at this moment," actress Anna Kendrick added emphatically.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn also weighed in, writing, "Because everyone keeps asking me my opinion, I LOVED the Star Wars trailer. It infused me with a giddy-little-kidness."

The excitement might tone down a little when one realises that we have to wait till 18 December to see t he movie when it releases.
