It has been seven years since Chris Brown's physical assault with then girlfriend Rihanna broke the Internet and has created ripples of discussions until this very day.

Looking back, the 27-year old exclusively told Vanity Fair how she felt and how hopeful she was in that she still reconciled with the rapper after the felony assault.

"I was that girl. That girl who felt that as much pain as this relationship is, maybe some people are built stronger than others. Maybe I'm one of those people built to handle s--- like this. Maybe I'm the person who's almost the guardian angel to this person, to be there when they're not strong enough, when they're not understanding the world, when they just need someone to encourage them in a positive way and say the right thing," Rih told the magazine as mentioned in People.

Despite the abuse, the songstress believed that she understood him and thought she could change him.

"A hundred percent. I was very protective of him. I felt that people didn't understand him. Even after ... But you know, you realize after a while that in that situation you're the enemy," she said.

After that incident in 2009, the Barbadian popstar get on her feet again and started dating with recent rumors saying she is linked to hip hop artist, Travis Scott.

As for finding love again, Rihanna said she still believes in finding the right guy.

"I always see the best in people. I hope for the best, and I always look for that little bit of good, that potential, and I wait for it to blossom. I will wait forever if I have to. "but that's O.K. You have to be screwed over enough times to know," she shared via ABC.

Meanwhile, RiRi's ex-flame, Drake, who used to have a beef with Chris Brown over Rihanna, gives a thumbs up for the RiRi-Breezy tandem and thinks that the two are soulmates and should get back together, Hollywood Life reported.

"As far as Chris Brown's concerned, Drake thinks he and Rihanna are perfect for one another. They've got that special connection between them and they'll never stop loving one another. Drake thinks they both need to stop playing and get back in the game together," a source said.
