Selfies are killing more people than sharks! Recent reports reveal that selfies have claimed another life as a Japanese tourist tripped and fell to his death at the Taj Mahal. While this news seems bizarre, new reports suggest that death by selfie is a growing trend.

According to BBC News, the tourist that reportedly died at the Royal Gate in Taj Mahal was coming down the stairs when he attempted a self portrait. Missing a step, the 66-year-old man fell down from the stairs and breathed his last due to head injuries. Soon after the fall, he lost consciousness and succumbed to his injuries.

It is very sad to learn how precious lives are being lost recklessly because of this new trend. With this incident it is attested again that the people need to become more aware of their surrounding and less self involved. In July this year was another shocking incident of a woman from Mississippi who was gored by a bison while clicking a selfie, was reported by the Telegraph.

The reports from around the world are getting worse by the day. In another case in Russia, the kids were electrocuted while taking a selfie on top of a train. The situation has become so intense that the Russian government had to intervene with public service campaigns urging the people to be attentive about their locations especially where taking a photo does not seem to be good idea, according to the Guardian.

In a recent article by Mashable, they did some number crunching to reveal the shocking news that there have been more deaths due to Selfies (12) than there have been due to shark attacks (8).
