In a predominantly patriarchal society like the one we live in today, it is quite refreshing and heartwarming to come across examples especially on a celebrity level, such as in the case of famed Hollywood actor George Clooney. Clooney presumably has no qualms about changing his work schedule to balance out his wife Amal Clooney's legal practice. Amal Clooney is an internationally renowned human rights attorney and apparently takes her job extremely seriously. Comparatively, her work is less flexible than his, given the high profile international cases she works on and the very nature of her job.

Currently, Amal is representing former Maldives president Mohamed Nasheed who has been sentenced to 13 years in prison. Early this year in March 2015, Nasheed was convicted under the Anti-Terrorism Act of Maldives for arresting Criminal Court Judge Abdulla Mohamed, while being Maldives President, details The Washington Post. Amnesty International had condemned the Maldivian Government on how they treated the Nasheed case.

With regards to their marital balancing act, "When he proposed, the deal was struck on very clear terms," a source apparently close to the couple told Grazia Magazine (via the Economic Times). "This is a marriage of equals, and Amal takes her work far too seriously to make compromises, so the only way it can work is if George fits his schedule around her."

Clooney and Amal will be celebrating their first wedding anniversary on September 27, 2015. Over the last one year the couple regaled popularity and where in the limelight for varied rumors and gossips, particularly surrounding a possible divorce and a possible pregnancy.
