Katy Perry is taking the stage at half time to perform at the NFL Super Bowl XLIX slated to be held Feb 01, 2015. Affirmative.

The National Football Association and Perry both confirmed that the "Dark Horse" singer will be performing at half-time at the event.

"Bob Costas announced the performance to the television audience at halftime of the Cowboys-Giants game on Sunday Night Football, primetime TV's No. 1 show," according to NFL.com.

Meanwhile, Perry also confirmed the news tweeting:

"My band is in the other room screaming at the TV (and each other) over this Cowboys-Giants game. Can't wait for February 1st..."

Soon after, Perry and sponsor Pepsi revealed a video of the things Perry has planned for the half-time performance:

Rumors about Perry performing at the upcoming Super Bowl had been doing the rounds since August and more recently Billboard confirmed that the "Roar" crooner was indeed shortlisted by NFL.

There was a lot of controversy about "Pay to Play" - a scheme by the NFL where the artists had to pay to perform at the event. The plan wasn't recived very well by the music industry.

Commenting on the scheme, Perry said on the show:

"I'm not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl."

There is no news about NFL's scheme or whether Perry and her team is actually paying the NFL to take the stage on one of the most watched events of America.

People are expecting Perry to belt out some of her world-chart-topping hits at the event and some even expect the show to be better than Bruno Mars' epic performance last year.

About 111.5 million tuned in to NBC to watch the previous superbowl from all around the world. The Red Hot Chili Peppers also performed along with Bruno Mars setting a new viewership record for the event, Time reports.
