Thanksgiving time is the season for being grateful for all good things in one's life. To add to this gratitude, Wallethub has done a study to find the best and worst retailers for the Black Friday sales.

With an improved economy, the number of people gearing up for the sales will be nearly two-thirds of the citizenry of the United States or so says an Accenture Holiday Shopping survey. The numbers were 44 percent in 2007 and 55 percent in 2013.

To bring together the best deals on offer for the big sale WalletHub surveyed 5,525 deals from the 2014 Black Friday ad scans of 22 of the biggest U.S. retailers. We included the average markdown of those 5,525 items, which are categorized into their appropriate categories for easy digestion.

The best deals are being offered by J C Penny with a 65 percent  discount followed by Macy's at 53.5 percent.

Walmart's average deals are in the vicinity of 32 percent followed by Amazon at 21 percent. Target's discount is  35.6 percent. The overall discount average by the retailers hovers at 39.45 percent.

According to categories the best discounts are: Apparels- Sears at 69 percent, JC Penny at 62 percent and Macy's at 62.3 percent.

Computers and phones: OfficeDepot and OfficeMax at 40.6 percent, Staples at 35.3 percent and Radioshack at 34 percent.

Consumer Electronics: Macy's at 65 percent, Staples at 45.26 percent and RadioShack at 44.2 percent.
