What you call your dog says a lot about you. While some people take it seriously, some take it just in sport, according to the The Dog Snobs .

Looking at the different kinds of names that are given to dogs, we can get some interesting insights into what it says about us.

Nerdy: What if you call your dog Kafka or Camus? That would look like quite a statement from you, but others may think you are a bit pretentious too. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks. Just go ahead and do what you wish.

Sportsy: A lot of people call their pets after sports personalities or events, such as Raider, Rugby or Fenway. Last year, the themes were Champ, Chase and Wrigley.

Person: Out of the top 20, 18 from last year were human names. Our pets are our family, referred to as 'furbabies' and 'granddogs'. Top human names included Max, Charlie, Bella or Lucy.

Disney: This category tends to reflect the streak in us that makes us feel that we can set our sights high and try to aspire for high goals. If you think Lady and Nala, you realise that Nala was ranked high in 2014, while "The Lion King" was a favorite.

Pop Culture: Those who are a bit trendy or nerdy name their pets after pop icons. If you think of a Gizmo or a furby, or pop culture names like Piper or Dexter, then you know you are one of these!

Foodies: Love names like Ginger, Pepper and Peanut, according to hngn.

"The name of a dog reflects the personality and sense of humor of the owner," says Lisa Peterson, spokeswoman for the American Kennel Club. Hence, whatever you name your dog is what it says about you.
