The rumors are true...for once.

Ben Higgins is officially the next bachelor, Chris Harrison announced Monday night on "After Paradise."

The host of "The Bachelor" stated, "It's my pleasure to announce your new bachelor - ladies and gentlemen, Ben Higgins."

"It's incredible. I think people like me don't get opportunities like this," Ben, a 26-year-old software salesman, said in regards to his new gig. "I never thought that this opportunity would be something I could have. I'm excited."

Ben, who was a fan favorite in this past season of "The Bachelorette," was the second runner-up. The bachelorette, Kaitlyn Bristowe ended up accepting the proposal from Shawn Booth. The newly engaged couple was rooting for Ben to get chosen as the next bachelor.

"Ben H. He's our guy," Shawn had answered in July when Access Hollywood asked him who should be the next bachelor.

Ben, who talked about being the next bachelor on Good Morning America, revealed that he is a huge fan of comedian Amy Schumer.

"I would love for her to come on the season," he said. "I think we should push for it. She's hilarious, she's been great to the show. If she wanted to come out, I wouldn't be against it."

During the announcement, Schumer called Ben to congratulate him on the huge opportunity.

"Ben, I am so excited for you, I hope you find love, do you want to have phone sex right now?" Amy said

Ben jokingly replied, "You have my number - call me later."

Schumer then ended the conversation, "Find love, and then send some my way."

In terms of building a relationship, which can be hard to do when you are dating 25 girls at a time, Ben stated that he will be focused on communication.

"I think when two people are joining lives together there has to be a ton of communication amongst those two people. I think just being able to live life together is what I'm looking for," he said.

Season 20 of "The Bachelor" will premiere on Jan. 4, 2016 on ABC.
