George R.R. Martin has yet to announce a release date for the sixth book of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, "Winds of Winter."

While fans are waiting for any kind of news in regards to the books, they have been coming up with theories about the plot. One of the more recent theories is that The Wall, which has been protected by the men of the Night's Watch for 8,000 years, will finally come crumbling down, putting all of Westeros in jeopardy.

(Spoilers Alert*) In the end of the fifth book, "A Dance with Dragons" and the end of season five of "Games of Thrones," the TV show adaptation of the books, the Night's Watch was struggling with their leadership after Jon Snow was elected the Lord Commander. At the very end, several members of the Watch who did not agree with Snow's decision to become allies with the wildlings stabbed Snow. With Snow gone, the Wall might come crumbling down and most likely at the hands of the White Walkers, also known as The Others.

The prediction argues that in order for the Walkers to be the ultimate threat/enemy, they must be the ones to break down the wall. With the wall falling, the threat will become more urgent, potentially forcing everyone to band together. The theories claim that Daenerys Targaryen and her dragons will come and save Westeros or at least die trying.

These theories have not been confirmed by anyone associated with "Games of Thrones" or the book series. Martin did tease that in "Winds of Winter," there will be a major plot twist for one of the characters. The author also stated that the series' ending will be bittersweet.

"Winds of Winter" is rumored to be released before the season six premiere of "Games of Thrones."
