Disney has announced plans to bring a galaxy far, far away, just a bit closer for Star Wars fans all over the world with new Star Wars theme parks.

Disney said that both Disney parks, Disneyland in Anaheim, California, and Disney World, in Orlando, Florida, will host new "lands" dedicated to the famed science fiction franchise, which started in 1977, and continues to this day, with the release of a new film scheduled for the end of 2015.

The new parks will be 14 acres and portray a new planet that has not yet been featured in the franchise, a port, and the last stop before the depths of space most known to Star Wars fans.

"I am thrilled to announce the next chapter in the long and exciting history between Disney Parks and Star Wars," said Disney CEO Bob Iger. "We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever. These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Warsplanet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance."

The highlights of each park will be two feature rides, one of which will allow park guests to get behind the controls of the Millennium Falcon for a top secret marriage. The other will drop parkgoers into the middle of an epic, battle on an enormous scale. There will also be smaller attractions that have not yet been specified.
