Pregnancy complications, premature and C-section deliveries are some of the most dreaded experiences expectant mothers undergo. A recent survey by the Mumsnet, a U.K. based network that hosts discussions on parenting, pregnancy, products and other issues found almost 64 percent of 1,662 British mums actually enjoyed childbirth even though they were in too much pain.

The participants were interviewed about their expectations before giving birth, mental status, level of pain and personal experiences during childbirth. It was observed almost 44 percent of subjects confessed they were not mentally prepared to undergo the delivery procedure. Nearly 47 percent of surveyed women who endured excruciating pain during labor reportedly were pleased about childbearing.

Nearly 64 percent of the mothers said they didn't want to give birth again because of pain. In addition the results found 19 percent of the respondents remained sexually active even during the ninth month of pregnancy and 4 percent said they would do it differently the next time or will not have more children.

The survey also noted around 81 percent of the participants found media portrayal of pregnancy, motherhood and delivery through images and films very unrealistic.

"It can be tricky to find unvarnished truth about what giving birth is actually like. We're either presented with a soft-focus vision of loveliness with the mum-to-be barely breaking out in sweat, or we're scared half to death with tales of surgery, emergency and ruthless pain," said Justine Roberts, founder of Mumsnet, reports the Daily Mail.
