The Los Angeles Lakers have been rumored to be interested in signing center Kevin Seraphin, who most recently played for the Washington Wizards.

The Lakers have been very busy this offseason. They added Roy Hibbert and Brandon Bass and drafted D'Angelo Russell and Larry Nance Jr. Although their power forward position will be packed with the return of Julius Randle, finding someone to back up Hibbert would be key. Seraphin, who is only 25-years-old, could be that person.

Matt Fitzgerald, a featured columnist with Bleacher Report, wrote:

"The former first-round pick is the ideal backup option behind Hibbert in Los Angeles, should the Lakers opt to go that route. Although he's not a legitimate 7-footer, he sports a thick frame at 6'10" and 278 pounds. His physicality, rebounding and rim-protecting ability are all assets LA could use.

Consistent effort has been part of Hibbert's problem in recent years, so it would be interesting to see if Seraphin could coexist and thrive based on what's happened in the past."

Seraphin averaged 6.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in 15.6 minutes this past season. His former team, the Wizards, who are reportedly still in the mix to sign him, have kept him on the team since 2010. Teammate Bradley Beal praised Seraphin's talent and potential back in January.

"We stay on him because we know how good he can be, and I think sometimes he doesn't realize how talented he really is," Beal said. "I tell him all the time, 'I'm going to give you the ball, and in my opinion no one can guard you in the post.'"

Aside from the Lakers and the Wizards, the New York Knicks are reportedly in the mix as well.
