A woman who was working at as an escort seems to have killed a serial killer who may be linked to the murders of sex workers across the United States.

The Huffington Post reports that an escort shot and killed Neal Falls in Charleston, West Virginia after her contacted her through backpage.com, a site often used for establishing such meet-ups. As Falls began to try and choke the woman to death, she was able to struggle with him enough that she could grab a pistol he had brought and then shot him with his own gun.

Although escaping with her life, the victim still suffered a number of serious wounds from the attack, including broken vertebrae. The police have said the shooting was justified and she will not be facing charges.

Inside the car Falls drove to meet the victim, police found a horrifying array of tools and weapons straight from a slasher film including a machete, axes, knives, bleach, a bulletproof vest, and numerous pairs of handcuffs. The police also found a list that had the names of other escorts.

Falls was originally for Oregon and has been linked to a number of disappearances throughout the country, including Nevada and Ohio.

At around the time Falls was living in Nevada and working security at the Hoover Dam, at least three escorts went missing. The body of one of the women was later found nearly 2,000 miles away in Illinois, just a couple hundred miles away from a town where Falls was a registered gun owner. The remains of the other missing escorts in Nevada were also found hundreds of miles away from where they disappeared.

Because of the proximity of Charleston, West Virginia to the town of Chillicothe, Ohio where the dismembered bodies of four sex workers were found, it is believed that Falls may have also been to blame for those murders as well.
