A woman in England was found guilty of killing a pedophile after she learned of his crimes against a group of boys who lived in her East London neighborhood.

The BBC reports that Sarah Sands, who was initially charged with murder, was found guilty of manslaughter by reason of loss of control. The 32-year-old Sands killed 77-year-old Michael Pleasted by stabbing him eight times. Pleasted tried crawling out of his apartment and then died in the hallway of his building.

Pleasted had two previous convictions for pedophilia and was on out on bail pending a trial for the accusations regarding the three children. Sands said she was unable to control herself after he smiled at her and denied having committed the crime when she confronted him about the issue at the door to his apartment. He said that he was innocent and the boys had ruined his life with their false accusations.

Sands turned herself into police without incident after the killing. She told the police that she had previously tried to be a good Samaritan to the elderly man, keeping him company and bringing him food.

Pleasted also went by the name of Robin Moult and had a history of sex crimes against juvenile boys going back to the 1970s. He was first convicted of such crimes in 1970, and the most recent conviction before the accusations that spurred Sands' stabbing was in 1991.

In that time, he served sentences for his crimes with lengths varying between nine months and six years.

Sands has not yet been sentenced, but will receive a light sentence than if she had been convicted of murder.
