Jahlil Okafor, who was selected third overall by the Philadelphia 76ers, had an impressive night at the Summer League opener on Monday. In the Sixer' loss against the San Antonio Spurs, Okafor recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. He shot 10-for-22.

Okafor started off slow but picked up his game quickly. He showed fluidity in the post during the second half.

"His heart is so pure that he probably pressed," 76ers summer league coach Billy Lange said. "Once he settled in in the third quarter and we started drawing plays up for him ... I thought he did really, really well."

Even though the Summer League is not the same as the NBA, Okafor's strong start suggests that he is ready to play on the professional level.

Jesus Gomez with SB Nation detailed the young player's debut. Gomez wrote:

"While the flaws many pointed out about Okafor were on display -- poor free throw shooting and defensive awareness, mainly -- Okafor bounced back from a bad first half in which he went 3-of-11 to finish the game by making seven of his 11 second-half shots. Latvian sharpshooter Dairis Bertans gave the Spurs a huge boost with 19 points on 5-of-8 from beyond the arc, but everyone who tuned in wanted to see how Okafor would fare and he didn't disappoint."

Okafor, who won the 2015 NCAA Championship with Duke, was projected to go second in the draft. When the Los Angeles Lakers decided to go with guard D'Angelo Russell, the Sixers quickly took him despite having centers Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid.
