The Miami Heat and Goran Dragic have agreed to a five-year, $90 million contract, league sources reported.

The Heat will officially extend the offer to the guard on July 9, which is the first day that players can sign new contracts. Teams and players can negotiate deals starting on July 1 when free agency began at midnight.

According to the sources, cited by ESPN.com, Dragic agreed to the new terms while in his home country, Slovenia. His new deal includes an option to enter the free agent market after the fourth year.

Although the contract is the largest one that Dragic has agreed to, he technically took a less than he could have. By doing so, the Heat can have some room to negotiate with Dwyane Wade and other free agents.

Dragic could have asked for a five-year max deal that would have been worth more than $100 million from the Heat. Other teams could have offered him a four-year max deal worth around $85 million. Since joining the Heat in February, Dragic has expressed his desire to stay in Miami.

Wade opted out of his $16.1 million player option. Reports claim that Wade is seeking a three-year deal worth more than $45 million. Earlier this week, Luol Deng opted in to his contract, contrary to what many people expected. Deng will make $10.2 million next year.

"He thinks the team is going to be terrific," Deng's agent Herb Rudoy said.

During the regular season, he averaged 16.3 points and 4.5 assists. For the Heat, he averaged 16.6 points and 5.3 assists in 26 games.
