If rumors are to be believed, Microsoft might be planning to discontinue Windows Phone. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently stated that the company must make some difficult decisions and according to reports, killing off Windows Phone will be one of them.

According to rumors, Satya Nadella and his Senior Leadership Team are discussing the option to drop Windows Phone from the mobile phone line and smaller tablets.

On Twitter, an account called MSFTNerd claimed that Microsoft will instead use Android with selected apps and services pre-loaded.

As of now, Microsoft is allowed to pre-load services like Skype, OneNote and Office apps on Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

Rumors also suggest that Microsoft and Google would partner in a deal that would see the development of specific versions of Google Maps, YouTube and Search for the Microsoft desktop OS.

Microsoft recently sold part of Bing Maps directly to Uber, depicting a sort of ongoing transition moment. However, dropping Windows Phone altogether seems likes a drastic solution.
