RT News reports that Walt Disney Company will no longer allow its visitors to bring in their selfie-sticks to the amusements parks.

The company announced that the ban will be in effect at the end of this month. The reason behind the new rule was the safety concern for both the park's employees and visitors, according to the company's announcement.

RT reports Disney World spokesperson Kim Prunty said: "We strive to provide a great experience for the entire family, and unfortunately selfie-sticks have become a growing safety concern for both our guests and cast," not citing any particular incidents that contributed to the introduction of the new ban.

However reports say there has been an incident at California's Disney Adventure last week, which might have played a role: A visitor took out a selfie-stick to take a picture during a roller coaster ride, which was already prohibited. The incident caused the roller coaster to stop and the ride was closed for an hour.

After the new rule is in effect, the visitors of the Disney World in Orlando, Florida will be asked to leave their selfie-sticks at the door of the amusement park if they did not leave them behind already.

Orlando's park is not the only Disney park the new ban will be applied to. California's Disneyland Resort and other two Disney parks in Hong Kong and Paris will all be following Orlando, starting in July 1, according to RT.

The selfie-stick is not the first item to be banned from the park grounds by the Walt Disney Company. Visitors are not allowed to bring in inline skates, folding chairs and several other things that the company determined to be unsuitable, over safety or convenience issues.
