‘Pitch Perfect 3’ Cast Update: Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson Confirmed
Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson will be returning for the third installment of "Pitch Perfect," a comedy film about an acapella group called the Barden Bellas.
The actresses made the announcements on their respective Twitter pages.

"Pitch Perfect 3" was officially announced by Universal Pictures on June 10th. Universal Pictures reportedly have started negotiations with writer Kay Cannon, who was responsible for the first two films. Elizabeth Banks, who directed "Pitch Perfect 2" and acted in the first two movies, tweeted, "It's on. #PitchPerfect3" There is no word on whether or not she will direct the third film.
There are currently no plot lines for the movie. In "Pitch Perfect 2," we saw the bulk of the Barden Bellas graduate from college, which suggests that newcomer Emily, played by Hailee Steinfeld, could potentially be the lead for the third movie if it revolves around competing on the collegiate level. Steinfeld has not confirmed whether or not she will be in the movie.
However, with Kendrick (Beca) and Wilson (Fat Amy) returning, the third movie could completely depart from the college theme. In the second movie, the Bellas competed on an international level.
"Pitch Perfect 2," which was released in theaters on May 15th, has made more than $170 million at the U.S. Box Office and more than $259 million globally. It is the highest-grossing movie musical of all time.
Before the movie came out, Kendrick did not talk much about the possibility of a third movie.
She said to Time, "I'm not one to count my chickens, so I just want to see how this one does and find out if there's an appetite for that before I even think about it. I'll drive myself crazy."
"Pitch Perfect 3" will hit theaters on July 21, 2017.
