Uber Will Fire Its Drivers If They Attend Taxi Protests

Uber is tracking its drivers in China and it will fire anyone attending taxi protests, according to reports.

The Verge reported that the ride-hailing service has ordered its drivers in China not to participate in taxi protests in the city of Hangzhou, located in Eastern China.

The WSJ also noted that the company has threatened to cancel its contracts with those who disobey its commands. It will be using the GPS coordinates to determine if drivers are attending the protests.

Uber stated that the harsh stance is designed to "maintain social order."

1 Million Daily Rides in China

In other news, the company is logging one million daily rides in China, which is as many as the rest of the world combined.

According to the Quartz, in an internal letter to investors, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick said today that Uber is logging in 1 million daily rides in China. Encouraged its prospects in the country Kalanick intends to raise $1 billion specifically for China operations.
