It's official. IBM Records announced that Katy Perry has just announced that she will be releasing a new single entitled 1984.

Katy and Taylor's fans are quick to react on Twitter saying that the song is the Firework's songstress way of lashing back at Taylor Swift's recently-released single 'Bad Blood,' US Weekly said.

"Katy Perry just registered a song called '1984.' Is she trying to come for Taylor???"

"KATY PERRY HAS RECORDED A SONG CALLED '1984' THE SHADE IS SO REAL OMG," one fan tweeted.

The news source is also confident that it is, indeed, a song in retaliation for Swift's Bad Blood recalling a previous tweet from the 30-year old singer saying ""Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing..."

She posted such Tweet after the Shake It Off singer confirmed in an interview with Rollingstone that her recent single is intended for another performer who she considered as 'straight-up enemies.'

Yahoo News, on the other hand, is speculating that Katy's 1984 revolved around the classic Orwellian concept of the all-time favorite 1984. The news source also think that it could refer to Katy's birth year which is in 1984.

Katy Perry and Taylor Swift openly admitted to be engaged in a feud last year when the California Girls singer allegedly convinced Swift's dancers to leave the latter's group and join the California Girls tour.

Media sources also considered Swift's previous involvement with John Mayer who, at one point, dated Katy Perry.

Mirror remembered Katy Perry's interview with Billboard with the songstress proclaiming that, unlike Taylor Swift's less confrontational behavior, she will really fight back when in a feud.

"If somebody is trying to defame my character, you're going to hear about it."
