Male Muslims should stay away from masturbation, else it would make their hands 'pregnant' in afterlife, said Mücahid Cihad Han, who was responding to a man who "kept masturbating, although he was married, and even during the Umrah, in a pilgrimage that was similar to the Hajj."

Mucahid Cihad Han, an Islamic preacher based in Istanbul, came on private television station 2000 TV on May 24 to answer viewer questions.

When he heard about his plight, Han said that masturbation should not be followed by Muslims. He added: "Moreover, one hadith states that those who have sexual intercourse with their hands will find their hands pregnant in the afterlife, complaining against them to God over its rights".

The so-called televangelist just asked the caller to "resist Satan's temptations".

Masturbation, though, is a controversial topic in Islam. The Qur'an makes no mention of it, while Muslim scholars and clerics can interpret it in their own way.

Many rulings call the act 'haram' or forbidden, even as many others simply put it in the category of makruh, or "disliked". A few interpretations permit masturbation if certain situations are allowed. A 14th century scholar rules: "If a man is turned between continued desire or releasing it, and if this man does not have a wife and he fears he will suffer because of this (someone like a prisoner, or a pauper), then it is permissible for him to masturbate."

Meanwhile, tweeters used the chance to jeer at Han, and one of them asked: "Are there any hand-gynaecologists in the afterlife? Is abortion allowed there?"

Another tweeted: "So you think that being pregnant is a God-given punishment?"

"You've gotta be kidding me!" said yet another. "The only men not having pregnant hands would be the ones without hands."

Interestingly, Mucahid Cihad Han has more than 12,000 followers on Twitter, and he is getting all the media that he is receiving, even if it is negative. He is retweeting every article that has been written about his pregnant hands statement since May 25, according to inquisitr.
