Ever wondered how Jason Momoa got his role on the hit HBO show "Game of Thrones"? According to a newly released audition tape, the hunky actor performed an intense traditional dance to land the part of a fearful Dothraki warlord Khal Drogo.

In the video, surfaced by Time, the then-unknown actor performs a haka dance, a traditional dance of New Zealand's indigenous Maori.

Jason Momoa grunted out sayings in Haka as he slapped his hands together and struck his thighs with his palms.

Since then, Momoa, 35, has starred IN SundanceTV's sleeper hit "The Red Road" and is slated to play Aquaman in the upcoming superhero flick "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice."

The 215-pound actor's bare-chested portrayal of the Dothraki chieftain made him one of the most memorable characters of the series, despite the fact that he only appeared in one full season. His character was killed off after marrying Daenerys Targaryen, portrayed by Emilia Clarke.

The actor told AOL earlier this year that he was given a Drogo scene to read out loud during his audition that consisted of his character saying 'no' repeatedly, according to E! News.
