‘Pitch Perfect 2’ Star Hailee Steinfeld Signs with a Music Label

Hailee Steinfeld showed off her singing chops in "Pitch Perfect 2" and got the attention of music label Republic Records.

According to the latest reports, the 18-year-old actress, who gained recognition after being nominated for an Academy Award for her role in "True Grit," has signed a contract with Republic Records.

"The moment that we met Hailee, we found her commitment to music inspiring. She has the vision, natural talent and dedication to compete at the highest level. We are thrilled to be a part of her musical journey," Republic Records executive vice president Charlie Walk said.

The label's co-founder and chief executive Monte Lipman added, "Hailee is a multi-talented artist and among her many gifts, her voice is both unique and undeniable. It's exciting to have her join the Republic family."

Steinfeld has already started working in the studio. For her debut, Steinfeld will work with Captain Cuts, Harvey Mason, The Futuristics, Mattman & Robin from MXM and other groups.

The young star and budding artist's latest movie, "Pitch Perfect 2" opened to $70.3 million in the box office last weekend. In the movie, which follows the Barden Bellas, an all female acapella group, road to reinstatement, Steinfeld covers Jessie J's newest song, "Flashlight."
