Alfonso Ribeiro, widely known for his role as Carlton Banks from the NBC sitcom "Fresh Prince of Bel Air," will return in front of the screen as the new host of ABC's "America's Funniest Home Videos."

The announcement was made on the finale episode of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" Tuesday. Ribeiro participated and won in season 19 of the competition show with pro dancer, Witney Carson.

"You have given me so much love and support in doing this and I couldn't be more proud to take over for you," Ribeiro told his predecessor Tom Bergeron, who currently hosts the dancing competition.

Bergeron responded, "I only have one thing to say, and you already know this from having to dance with Witney: Wear a cup!"

Bergeron's joke referenced the incident last season when Carson accidently kneed Ribeiro in the groin during rehearsal.

Bergeron hosted "America's Funniest Home Videos" for 15 years. Previous hosts included Daisy Fuentes, John Fugelsang and Bob Saget.

"We look forward to Alfonso leading 'AFV' into the next generation of family friendly viewership," executive producer Vin Di Bona said.

ABC added during the announcement that the upcoming season will have "an abundant supply of fresh clips to keep families laughing from coast to coast."

"America's Funniest Home Videos" will return for its 26th season later this year in the fall.
