A mother's cure to dehydration has turned into a quick-fix for adult hangover post a binge drinking session.

Pedialyte's consumer base for decades has been children and mothers who swore by it. However, in recent years adult usage has increased by as much as 57 percent, which is driving the company to market to adults.

"Pedialyte is not just for kids-it's the secret to rehydration for both kids and adults. Which is just a fancy way of saying Pedialyte helps you feel better, so you can have a brighter day," the 'See The Lyte' campaign's website reads.

The company is marketing Pedialyte to adults with the claim that it can prevent mild to moderate dehydration diarrhea, vomiting, travel, exercise and occasional alcohol consumption.

"Both glucose and fructose contained in Pedialyte can help both children and adults reabsorb water along with depleted electrolytes, and thus aid in rehydration," Dr. Robert Glatter, at the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, told Fox News.

The campaign is also getting a leg up from celebrities like Miley Cyrus and rapper Pharrell Williams who swear by it.

To cater to its increasing adult consumer base, Pedialyte introduced powdered stick packs and new flavors including orange, strawberry and lemonade.
