New York Times recently unveiled its updated iOS news app, NYT Now and the app's most notable change is that it's completely free. Earlier, readers could get the unlimited access to articles on NYT Now with an $8 subscription.

Essentially, the app is aimed at young and mobile readers. The main feed of the app gets constantly updated by the Times' editorial team to include the "most important stories of the day," which includes stories from The New York Times or other outlets like Slate and BuzzFeed.

The app also comes with breaking news notifications.

The app will supplement lost subscription revenue with advertising from sponsors and the first advertiser on the free version is Delta Airlines. Readers will also notice ads in between the feed.

The app has also beefed up the sharing features - users now have the ability to send screenshots of story summaries in-app.

NYT Now is also compatible with password management app 1Password.

Another new feature is that you can subscribe to morning briefing and the app will alert you when it's ready.
