Jodi Arias' smirk that was characteristic of her all through the trial has been wiped off as she began her life sentence.

Christian Today carried a mug shot of 34-year old in orange jumpsuit which showed a glum-looking Arias staring at the camera. Arias was convicted of her boyfriend Travis Alexander's murder in 2013 but her sentencing only came last week as two juries failed to reach a unanimous verdict on her death sentencing. Judge Sherry K Stephens sentenced her to life in prison without parole, overturning Arias' plea for parole after serving 25 years.

Alexander's body was found have 30 stab injuries and gunshot wound when his body was found on June 9, 2008. Medical examination revealed he was killed on June 4. A damaged camera recovered from Alexander's home nailed Arias as the photos showed the couple in intimacy a few hours before he was murdered. His friends also mentioned that Arias was stalking him.

Arias' defense was that it was a homicide done in self-defense after Alexander attacked her for dropping his camera. However differing versions given by Arias during the investigations and trial dented her credibility.

She will serve her sentence in Arizona State Prison Complex near Goodyear.
