Manufacturers of caffeine infused clothing were ordered to refund their customers money and take down advertisements after the weight loss undergarment was proven ineffective.

Recently, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) slammed Wacoal America and Norm Thompson Outfitters for selling caffeine infused panties, shorts and inner wears that promise weight loss saying these novel clothing do not help one lose excess pounds or get rid of cellulite. But, the Oregon based Norm Thompson that is required to  reimburse $1.5 million, claimed it's weight loss garments made from Lytess help provide positive results in just one month. Wacoal America said the microcapsules with caffeine, vitamin E and other chemicals in the clothing actually led to weight loss.

However, both the clothing and textile giants failed to prove the efficacy of their claims in enabling women to achieve massive transformation like reduction of hip and thigh size by 2.1 and one inches in just a short while. One company ad stated, "Revolutionary iPant new shapewear that works with your body to eliminate cellulite," reports the Fox news.

The federal government officials urged users to follow healthy methods to shed fat and weight.

"If someone says you can lose weight by wearing the clothes they are selling, steer clear. The best approach is tried and true: diet and exercise," advises Jessica Rich, director of the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection, reports the NPR Blog.

Yet, some user reviews on Amazon suggest Caffeine infused pants like 'iPant shaper' did help a few in gaining smoother skin and toned legs.

Time and again researches and health experts have stressed on the fact that there are no short fixes to deal with obesity and extra body flab. Incorporating healthy lifestyle, wise eating choices and less indulgence in harmful habits like binge drinking and overeating fatty substances are the best ways to keep flab and diseases at bay.
