All jokes are not created equal - even on April Fools Day.

Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bruch Irvin tried to play a prank on all of his fans when he revealed that he was arrested for a DUI (driving under the influence) via Twitter.

His 8:33 a.m. tweet read, "Before this hits the media I just wanna apologize to my fans and the @Seahawks organization once again. I made a terrible decision (by) driving.... After I had a few drink. I will do everything to get ur trust back and will become a better person after this."

Roughly half and hour later, the 27-year-old tweeted, "How many of yall thought I was serious ?! Haha April fools!!!"

Although Irvin's prank was most likely meant to be harmless, the Twitterverse blew up in his face. Irvin was quickly criticized for not taking DUIs seriously, especially since DUIs kill so many people every year.

Some of these tweets read, reported by the New York Daily News:

"You think that's something to make jokes about? How f**king stupid are you," Twitter user @HustleTheSavage wrote.

"That wasn't funny at all. Idiot," @BryanBut31 said.

"Gotta show better judgment than that Bruce! Many people have lost loved ones due to DUI," @wdwdaddy wrote.

After receiving an immense amount of criticisms, Irvin tweeted:

He later sent out an apology tweet that read, "I apologize to all the 12's and my wvu fam if I offended u didn't mean to at all. So yea that's pretty much all the people that matter."

Irvin then announced that he will ban himself from Twitter for the rest of the day.

In this year alone, four NFL players have been arrested for driving while intoxicated. In 2014, a total of nine players were arrested for drunk driving.

Irvin recorded a total of 37 combined tackled, two interceptions and one forced fumble in 2014.
