McDonald's Offers Breakfast All Day

In an effort to maintain its market share, which has been threatened by competitors like Chipotle, McDonald's announced plans to make its legendary breakfasts available all day.

The Associated Press reports that all day breakfasts will first be tested at McDonald's restaurants in the San Diego area. McDonald's is fulfilling a long time demand of consumers, who have long contended the company should make its breakfasts available past the 10:30 a.m. cut off currently in place.

The company is not making the entire breakfast menu available, and will limit the selection to particular sandwiches. Potato fans will not have to fear however, as the hash browns are said to be a part of the limited breakfast item selection.

The decision not to make all breakfast items available is due to the fact that there simply isn't enough space in a typical McDonald's kitchen to accommodate all the ingredient and cooking needs.

The news was a boon for McDonald's stock, which gained nearly a dollar in trading after the story broke.

It is unclear if the decision to sell breakfasts will become standard policy. If it does become policy, there is no guarantee that the change will prevent the decline of McDonald's. As customers demand healthier food, the company has lost out to competitors.

The company has tried to present itself as more healthy by ending the use of human antibiotics in its chicken supply. It has also released a series of videos that show how its products are made in an order to remove some of the mystery in "mystery meat."

In addition to these changes, the company also recently changed its CEO in an effort to inject fresh thinking and blood into the organization, which until recently had sat unchallenged atop the fast food market.
