The story of a pregnant woman from Iowa made waves in the Internet when she reported that she suddenly gave birth while intent in calming her stomach pains in the shower.

According to WJLA, 24-year old Brittany Young, who first told her story in the Des Moines Register, said that she felt extreme stomach pains on Wednesday.

Young said that she has been confused by the information given by a hospital worker from her previous check-up when she remembered the latter told her she is 12-months pregnant. Young said that she has misunderstood the message saying that the worker wants to tell her that she still has 12 more weeks before she will deliver her baby.

"I got in the shower, not even five minutes after that, I was like, my stomach is still hurting. Not even five seconds (later), I had to push," she narrated.

She is holding her baby, Miracle who weighs 6 pounds and eight ounces when she recounted her story.

She further said, "This baby's eyes were open; she was just sitting there staring at me. She didn't cry or anything. I was in shock. I was like, there's a baby here."

As mentioned in Mail Online, Miracle is not Brittany's first childbirth experience and she had given birth to three other children, Andre, Nijaya and Johanna in the past few years of her marriage.

She further said, "I've been in shock for the last couple of days, because I didn't expect a full-term baby.

'With my other kids, I had like three or four pushes. And with her it was just one and she was there."

However, despite her experiences on the delivery of her previous babies, Brittany said that she is not fully-prepared to take care of Miracle.

"I don't have clothes. Diapers. Nothing," she said.

Time said that 'surprise birth stories' happen almost anywhere and lots of women had similar experiences with Young in the most inconvenient places like inside the train or in an airport bathroom.

"Some women don't feel the pain of labor contractions. In other unusual situations, women who don't realize they're pregnant in the first place don't identify contractions for what they are. As obesity rates rise, that scenario is likely to become more prevalent," a report from Time said.
