Apple Watch might not make the impact Apple has been hoping for, according to a new poll.

The poll, carried out by Reuters, found that 69 percent of Americans are not interested in buying the Apple smartwatch. The poll considered 1,250 US citizens as respondents.

25 percent of respondents said that they were interested in purchasing the Apple Watch, while another 6 percent were simply undecided on purchasing the wearable gadget.

Notably, the poll found that 13 percent of respondents were willing to purchase an iPhone (if they didn't already own one) in addition to the Apple Watch as an iPhone is required to get full use our to the smartwatch.

The poll also found that 52 percent of Americans feel that smartwatches in general are a "passing fad."

According to reports, only around 4.6 million smartwatches were sold globally last year, compared to sale of more than 1 billion smartphones worldwide.

Apple Watch is Apple's first new product in five years and will hit store on April 24.
