Drink two cups of milk every day to reduce blood pressure levels, advises a study.

Milk and dairy products are a good source of calcium, protein and nutrients that are good for the bones, muscles and immune system. A new research by Dutch scientists discovered another reason to drink milk. The experts from the Wageningen University in Netherlands looked at nine published data involving 57,000 participants and 15,367 cases of high blood pressure.

Their analysis revealed individuals who drank at least two cups of milk daily had decreased risk of hypertension. The results did not directly associate milk consumption to reduced risk of heart diseases, stroke and early mortality but it was found the essential fats and nutrients prevent under-nourishment in old age. Drinking milk and supplements fosters brain development in fetus and very young children, reports the Free Press Journal.

In addition, the study also noted drinking especially four servings of non-fat dairy products and milk controlled erratic blood pressure levels. This helped avert the chances of developing more diseases and illnesses triggered by hypertension.

"The results of this diverse session lay the groundwork for future investigations into the overall impact dairy may have on public health. It appears that dairy's nutrient-rich package may have a positive impact on health, development and performance in more ways than previously expected." Said Cindy Schweitzer, researcher and co-author from the Wageningen University, reports the News Max Health.

The research was presented at the European Medical Conference in France. More information is available online in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
