Journalism is a profession with most number of coffee drinkers, a new research states.

The survey conducted by a blog Pressat in the United Kingdom, found that journalists and people in the field of media consume more coffee  than those in different career field.

"It seems that drinking coffee is a necessity on the job in a wide variety of professions," the Pressat team stated, reports The Guardian. "The highest consumers, sinking over four cups daily, were those with stressful careers... Could it be that being overstretched or working late pushed the workforce to consume more caffeine?"

The conclusions were derived after surveying 10,000 professionals. The team found that police officers ranked second in the coffee drinkers list, followed by teachers. The survey showed that professionals in any of these top three jobs reported drinking more than four cups of coffee per day.

Plumbers and trade workers were placed fourth followed by nurses and medical staff. The sixth and seventh most coffee drinking professions were company executives and telesales, respectively. Those in IT technical support, retail staff and drivers were placed at bottom three.

The surveyors found that 85 percent of the people polled said they consumed at least three cups of coffee every day. Around 70 percent of them said they believed that their ability to work deteriorated if they could not drink coffee. Compared to women, men drank more coffee (5 percent)

Although, coffee consumption is associated with various benefits, it is also linked to different health issues. Coffee addiction leads to increased heart rate, anxiety and stomach problems.
