The Philadelphia Eagles will swap running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for linebacker Kiko Alonso, several media outlets reported. McCoy's agent, Drew Rosenhaus commented on the trade rumors.

The trade cannot be finalized until the new league year starts on March 10 at 4 p.m. ET.

The Eagles selected McCoy, 26, in the second round of the 2009 NFL draft. Since entering the league, McCoy has racked up impressive numbers. He is currently third in the league in rushing yards with 6,792 and fourth in rushing touchdowns with 44. During this past season, McCoy recorded 1,319 rushing yards, third-most in the NFL.

One source told ESPN's Josina Anderson that McCoy has been very "frustrated" about this potential trade.

"He's a Pennsylvania kid. He's never played football outside of Pennsylvania -- high school, college, pro," the source said. "So of course he's not happy."

By giving away McCoy, the Eagles clear up cap space. When the trade is finalized, the Bills will take over McCoy's contract, which is signed through 2017. McCoy is due $10.25 million this season.

The Eagles also freed up their cap space by cutting defensive end Trent Cole and Cary Williams. Both players were set to count for a total of nearly $20 million.

By acquiring Alonso, 24, the Eagles will take on less than $1 million over each of the next two years. Alonso, a second-round pick in 2013, will become a restricted free agent after the 2016 season. Alonso had an impressive rookie year recording 159 tackles. He tore his ACL this past summer and did not play for the entire 2014 season. His recovery process has gone very well and Alonso is expected to return this season.

"I anticipate being 100 percent before camp. By camp, I definitely feel I'll be 100 percent," Alonso said.

Alonso will reunite with Chip Kelly, who was his college coach at Oregon.

Several people tweeted how shocked they were upon hearing news of this trade:
