T.J. Lane who has three consecutive life sentences for the killing of three classmates and the wounding of three others, has been captured after escaping from the Allen Oakwood Correctional Institution in Lima, Ohio with two other inmates.

The three escapees were captured five hours after their prison break. A child killer named Lindsey Bruce, 33, was caught by one of the staff members who saw them leaving the premises. Lane was detected by a police dog in a wooded area. He was only 100 yards away from the prison. Clifford Opperud was detected by a helicopter-mounted infrared camera. He was hiding under a boat at a nearby residency. An investigation is being carried out , ABC News reported.

On February 27, 2012 Lane opened fire in the cafeteria of Chardon High School, in Chardon, Ohio. He killed three students and left one paralyzed. The other two injured students had minor injuries.

At the time of the attack, Lane was not actually attending Chardon High. He had recently started taking classes at the Luke Academy, which is for students with academic and behavioural problems who were referred there from public schools.

The exact motive behind the attack is still unknown. Lane never said if he picked the victims specifically or he had any reasons to kill them. Some witnesses claimed that he looked like he targeted the table and one of the victims, Russell King. King was dating Lane's ex-girlfriend at the time of the incident. Some believe that have might been his motive.

At the trial, Lane did not show any sign of remorse. Moreover, he was wearing a white t-shirt with the word "killer" written on it with a blue pen. To the families of the victims, he said "This hand that pulled the trigger that killed your sons now masturbates to the memory. F--- all of you." His language was accompanied by an obscene gesture made in the direction of the victims' families.
